NOW AVAILABLE:
NATIONWIDE TECH SUPPORT

over the years, ive gotten a lot of calls from way outside my service area. often , the people calling are in a jam, and as a last resort, i would try to help them over the phone. ive have done it a lot, and it often worked out quite well. i've decided to offer it as a service. success will depend on the issue, and the person's level of experience with tools and such. i gauge that from a pre interview. if it sounds viable, we go for it.  costs depend on the issue, and time involved. if you need something like that, lets give it a go.  if you are within my service area, its not for you. this is for people who otherwise have no option where they live.

thanks

Experienced pinball tech will repair your machine as you take part and learn what to do, and more importantly, what not to do.

Jan 2018-  i was profiled on Vice.com series State Of Repair.  It can be viewed by clicking

I repair both older electro-mechanical and newer digital ( solid state) games. Electro- Mechanical ( EM  games) have rotating score wheels, solid state ( SS)  games have digital displays, like a gas station pump. Later solid state games have a dot matrix display, sort of like a jumbo-tron at a sporting event.  When repairing solid state games, it's impossible to have on hand all the different transistors and chips for all the various brands and different game systems, and sometimes the computer boards need to be removed and repaired in my shop . Still, from experience, i can usually have on hand what is needed in most cases.  This is not true with electro-mechanical games. Most all EM games  can be repaired economically, in one visit, they are built like tanks.  Still, many solid state games do not require repairs on a component level.  Solid state games are very popular, and well worth the effort to repair. There are also inexpensive upgrades that can be done during the repair of solid state games to increase the games longevity. I enjoy repairing both EM and solid state games. Techs tend to stick to one or the other, I like doing both kinds. Two completely different kinds of challenges.

I also repair video arcade games.  I've been doing it in peoples homes that have pinball games, but until now have mostly turned down requests from people that only own video arcade games.  I never liked to turn down jobs from people that were kind enough to call,  and would at least offer them advice.  I've decided to not turn down those requests anymore, and will service video arcade games in homes that only have a video game.

Initially, I will ask you quite a few questions about your game. How long have you owned it? When was the last time it was used? Where has it be stored? Any previous repairs? What happened the last time it worked? The more I know up front, the better. I do a lot of prep work before I come. I go over the game's wiring diagram and layout a game plan for the repair. This prep work allows me to jump right into the job, and saves  time. Time is money, your money. Doing the prep before I arrive saves time, and makes it more possible to have the parts on hand to do it in one visit.  Sometimes , based on the above, I will order parts before I arrive.

I have 20 yrs experience repairing pinballs. Additionally, my day job is with the Long island Rail Road. Some of the LIRR equipment is run with relay logic, others with digital logic,  both technologies used in many pinball machines. My part time repair business keeps me involved with the hobby, and gives me great satisfaction . I don't depend on the income, so its much easier for me to keep the repair costs low.

No need to put up with broken or sluggish games, or a working game with half the features out of order. A working, well set up game is infinitely more fun, and once set up correctly, trouble free for years.

Nearly all repairs done in one visit, in a timely, systematic order. Time and money is not wasted away. Rates and references are available on request.
