Gottlieb High Hand as seen on the FX series Lights Out
I was called by the set director of the FX show Lights Out. They had a gottlieb high hand EM pinball on the set that they got from a crew member, and they needed it as working prop for the show. After looking at it for a few minutes, I told them to get another machine, it was too far gone to get working without a total overhaul, too much work to do on the set, and not worth the money. The game was in rough shape. They said another game wasn't possible, they already had filmed using the game and it had to be that game, for continuity . I put some time into the game, and got it working. however, two score reels were completely burnt up, and the chime box for bell sounds was missing. Someone has previously wired in a doorbell box from a house, and it was also burned up. They were happy that it even was playable, and added bell sounds in post production. I made a wave file of sounds from one of my games, and sent it to them, and they added it into the film. The set artists also did a decent re-paint on the game, and got it looking good too. This clip is from the 4th episode, the first time it was played in the series. You can see it on youtube here:
